Mobile Escape

This blog post was written by the students in 1 Krysko! Our class had mobile escape this month. On the first day we did an escape room. Some people escaped from the escape room. Other groups did not escape. Next, we learned about the 5 puzzles. Our class created the "I Spy" puzzle. We decorated the walls with trees, rain, snow, and leaves. We also made a tin man. We made bricks for the yellow brick road. We made green strips to make the castle look like the one from the movie. We decorated the strips with gems. On the nights of the showcase, we got to be Munchkins. Most of us had fun being Munchkins. It was fun to see our families try to solve our puzzles!

Morning Tubs

In our class, we start almost every morning with morning tub activities. This is a great chance for students to work on problem solving, fine motor, and social skills. It is also a chance to get settled before the school day fully begins.

Our Class Tree

This year, our class has chosen a tree that we will be following through the year to track the seasonal changes. After a vote, the students decided to name the tree "Greenie." Here is our summer picture. Check back soon for our fall picture!

Journals

I am absolutely beaming with joy today. This morning, the students were introduced to their journals. We had a great discussion about how special our journals are, and how we use them. We took the "Journal Pledge" about only including our best work in our journals. I was blown away by how hard everyone worked, especially when they were faced with not knowing how to spell a word. We learned to use our alphabet strips to look for the sounds that we hear. Ask your child what they wrote in their journal!

First Week

What an amazing first week! We have spent time getting used to routines, learning about classroom expectations, and beginning to start on our first units. In math, we are beginning to explore patterns. Today, students created ABC patterns. Ask your child if they can make an ABC pattern with you. In health, we have learned that everyone carries an invisible bucket that gets filled by acting kind to others. In Religion, we are learning how God knows all of us on a personal level. This week has been amazing! I know that there will be many more amazing weeks still to come. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or concerns. God bless, Miss Krysko
